I can’t afford my own Christmas decorations for the apartment and at my parent’s house I have no say in the decorating, but I still have been dreaming of what I would do if I had my own place and the money to decorate however I want. I love all shades of blue and would love to fill a whole house wit them. However, I like other colors as well so one time I could really use blues to cover my entire house would be during the Christmas season.
Growing up in Minnesota, I am used to blankets of snow on the ground and bright blue skies during the winter. I love traditional Christmas colors, but lately I have been really attracted to blues in Christmas decorating, especially when used with white. Here are some photos of inspiration that would set off my blue decorating if I were able to do some major Christmas decorating.

What do you think of having a blue Christmas? What is your favorite way it has been used in these different pictures? I tend to love it on a white tree with white, silvers, and sometimes purples. I love that is fits with all sorts of places someone could live from the coldest snowy mountain to someone who hasn’t seen snow in years on the coast. I think it’s a fun way to play up the traditional red and green without taking away any of the spirit that Christmas decorating has. What colors will you be decorating with this year?

I love your inspiration pictures. It’s hard to pick just one, but I think my favorite is the one with a white tree and turquoise ornaments, and of course the dog with a turquoise pillow. :)
My tree is silver & gold but I am tempted to throw some blue in there too!

Glorious, glorious images!!! I’m sitting here next to a bare-naked Christmas tree…can’t quite decide what turquoise theme to go with this year! I’m not sure your post made it easier though….so many beautiful ways to go!

Micah,
That is my favorite one, too! It’s so beautiful and elegant but such a fun twist on the traditional Christmas tree. I would love to make an exact replica of that tree, with the dog included of course!
Erin,
I’m sorry I made it harder for you! Is your tree white or green? I hope you post some pictures of your decorated tree!!

I think cool, icy blues mixed with white and silver is a perfect combination to decorate for the holidays! Definitely reminds me of snow & sky. I especially liked the white mantle w/ blue ornaments, and the white wreath. As fabulous as this color palette is, I’m using a lot of reds and golds in my Christmas decor because they go better with the other colors in our house.

I really like the blue & silver combo! I prefer a range of color myself but these are very beautiful pictures! They are definitely festive even if they are not traditional christmas colors.
