I love celebrating the transfer from the old year into the new. I love it even more now that I have been dating my boyfriend because it marks our anniversary. We started dating four years ago, when I was only 16 and he was barely 17. We always make it special in some way by going out to eat (with money or a gift card given to us for Christmas from my parents) and we either exchange gifts or do something else that is fun.
Sometimes we hang out with friends or family for the midnight celebration, which we are doing this year, or we relax together and watch the ball drop alone, which we did last year. Now that I am home we are two hours away from each other, and since San works all the time, it is hard to meet up to see one another. He asked for our anniversary off from work, though, so we are going to Red Lobster and then spending time with his family.
I am so excited to celebrate four years of dating and just thought I would

This past year I have completely changed one aspect of my life. I have always been obsessed passionate about decorating, but I had decided many years ago that there was no point in immersing myself in these things until I had a house of my own. Well, I realized that was ridiculous because it is something I love. I decided to look around, find inspiration, and just see where it led me. If you haven’t noticed yet, it led me to blogging which is now something else I am very passionate about.
I thought I’d delve into my inspiration files and share some of my favorite photos that I found this year. Now, before looking at all these, I want to preface this by saying that these photos are not the most amazing rooms I have ever seen. I have seen some gorgeous rooms that I could add here, but the photos I normally save to my inspiration files are rooms I think I could actually incorporate into my home in the future, or ones that I could take elements from to recreate. I see plenty of rooms that are spectacular, but that do not look like “home” to me and

I had a very wonderful Christmas with my family, and I hope the rest of you did, too. It saddens me how fast Christmas comes and goes, but hopefully the happiness will last at least until New Year’s, if not longer.
I want to share what my incredible parents gave me for Christmas. I asked for a new sewing machine since the one I bought for two dollars, was missing a lot of parts. I wanted something I could grow with. Boy, was I surprised when I opened this:
It’s another Brother sewing machine that also does embroidery! It came with a gorgeous case and a thing to wheel it around with. It is incredible! It is also computerized so I don’t have to fuss with a lot of mechanical buttons, and I can also download embroidery patterns online and put them on the sewing machine. I will definitely be able to use this machine for a long time. Thanks Mom and Dad! I also got an iron (can you believe I didn’t have one?) and an accessory for the sewing machine that allows me to transfer

It feels so good to be home. Above is my burro, Bailey, who let me take her picture as she welcomed me home. I hope you are all with your families, relaxing, having fun, and reminiscing about what makes life so special. This is the time of the year to let everyone know how much you love them and what they mean to you. It’s good to do this all year long, but life does get busy and sometimes we lose sight of what’s really important. I hope right now you know that what’s really important is not how clean your house is, it’s not any gossip going around about what’s-their-name, it’s not even about how financially stable you or your family is. What is most important is that you give love to others and you do the best you can. If you do those two things, you are doing well.
This Christmas, I am more thankful and more understanding than I have ever been of what God did for all of us on earth. He showed us He loved us in the most gracious way,
